Crossing a border has long meant going through the finicky process of getting ahold of some local currency. But that may no longer be the case for many of us soon.As this graphic below from the Bank for International Settlements – BIS shows, countries across Asia are working to connect their payment systems.Malaysia, for instance, already has live payment links with both Thailand and Indonesia. The link with Indonesia, which was recently announced, uses QR codes to facilitate payments.Currently, the payment link allows people traveling between the two countries to pay online merchants and for goods in physical stores.Read the complete source article through the link in the comments below👇#fintech #payments #paytech #digitalpayments #mobilepayments #banking #digitalbanking #fintechnews

Interesting !! A unified payment interface worldwide could revolutionize global payments. Brazil’s Pix QR, India’s UPI QR, Indonesia’s QRIS, the Philippines’ QR Ph, and Singapore’s SGQR are all successful examples of the basic idea. Imagine foreign tourists being able to settle bills just like locals. ASEAN QR is already linking their QRs for intra-regional tourists, facilitating $4 billion in consumer expenditure. Can't wait to see this further west. #payments #globalpayments #QRcodes #fintech #digitalpayments

⚙️ Digitalised cross border payments convenience is a reality in South East Asia. The U.S. Congress meanwhile will consider prohibiting trials of digital USD.🇭🇰 Scaling up cross border transactions on new digitalised networks is on the horizons as China’s cross border digital RMB trials of 2022 segue into expanded settlement patterns through Hong Kong.👉🏼 Meanwhile the expansion of eHKD trials continue apace, focusing on six use cases: online payments, payments at shops and restaurants, collecting government payouts, tokenised deposits, tokenised asset settlement, and Web3 trading and clearing.📰 Read more about the eHKD at this SCMP article: https://lnkd.in/gJSdavQz🇺🇸 At the same time, across the Pacific the U.S. Congress will consider a bill to prohibit the testing of a digital USD. https://lnkd.in/gKX_jaJB⚠️ There’s no clearer divide between Asia and the U.S. than the trajectory of currency digitalisation. #digital #china #payments

📣 Important Update from Bank Negara Malaysia💳Key Takeaways:1️⃣ Starting November 1, 2023, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) will introduce a transaction fee for payments made via DuitNow QR and credit card transactions. 2️⃣ For peer-to-peer fund transfers exceeding RM5,000 using personal QR codes, a 50 sen fee will be applied. However, there's an alternative – consider using IBG for cost-effective or even zero transaction charges for transfers above RM5,000.3️⃣ Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB, Bank Islam, and AmBank, have assured that they won't be implementing any fees related to DuitNow QR payments. This commitment will remain in effect until further notice.#DigitalPayments #MalaysiaFinance #DuitNowQR

Japan and other Asian nations are working to enable each other's access to and usage of QR code #payment systems, which are widely used in each nation. Japan has initiated discussions with India and Southeast Asian nations to allow cooperative use of digital payment systems by 2025. The country's standardised QR code payment system, known as JPQR, is run by the Payments Japan Association, whose general director, Yoshio f*ckuda, stated that Japan will also work with specific Chinese digital payment systems. f*ckuda discussed the objectives and potential applications of QR codes for mutual aid. Code payment services are currently offered by multiple operators in Japan only. Each QR code needs to be displayed in stores next to the #cash register, which requires time and work. In order to facilitate the usage of services offered by different companies and to unify the codes into a single code in Japan, JPQR was formed. To share your startup story write us on -contact@startuprise.org#Payment #Applications #QRcode #PaymentSolutions #Digital #Japan
