He had been employed by the George Banta Company, and was the former owner of the WW Bar in Menasha. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict. Survivors include his wife, Susie (Selbach) Schreiner; a daughter, Kelley, Long Beach, California; a son, Scott, Neenah. Also surviving are two sons: Steve and Greg, both son also said his client was concerned about his father.

The Jacobs, however, downplayed the incident when interviewed at home by the Wausau Daily Herald. Christopher Jacobs Jr. said he spent Wednesday afternoon in Athens and at his second farm in Taylor County and believes a telephone call to one of his son's lawyers at the public defender's office in Wausau that led to the sheriffs actions may have been a Halloween prank. "I just wanted to go out to the farm and sit for a while," he said. "I couldn't believe what was going on when I got home." He also laughed when told about the sheriff's department's actions.

"I wouldn't need guns to take that sheriffs department apart. I have two good hands," he said. Mrs. Jacobs confirmed she talked twice to McCarthy but does not recall if she told him her husband was on his way to Wausau. She said her husband did not leave any note and she did not remember what she told McCarthy.

Sheriff LeRoy Schillinger said he does not believe his department over-reacted after receiving the information from Mrs. Jacobs. "We have to react to calls, whether someone does something or not. You can't sit on your hands," Schillinger said. In addition to closing the courthouse, the sheriffs department notified the Wausau Daily Herald and other news media and Wausau police posted a plainclothes officer in a car outside the newspaper office.

John Reid, an attorney at the public defender's office in Wausau, said he received a call at 11 a.m. Wednesday that set off the whole incident, but declined to give details of the conversation. The caller "raised concern where Mr. Jacobs was headed and for what purpose," Reid said, adding he called the sheriffs department as soon as he got off the phone with the caller. "I told them they should be concerned about him (Jacobs Jr.) coming into town and being angry.

I had no reason to believe the information I received was not accurate," Reid said. Vital statistics Deaths Marie M. Cass, 85, 1015 Sterling Neenah. Andrew Erickson, 91, Wisconsin Veterans Home, King. Mae Z.

WAUSAU (AP) Deputies secured the Marathon County Courthouse after receiving a warning that the father of Christopher Jacobs III might be headed to Wau-sau armed with guns, authorities said today. Jacobs, 22, was found not guilty over the weekend on charges he participated in the 1987 Kunz family killings. His father, Christopher Jacobs has since criticized the way the sheriff's department handled the case. Sheriff's officials said deputies were ordered to lock the doors of the courthouse about noon Wednesday and secure the building after receiving a warning from Jacobs' wife, Judith. Business returned to normal at the courthouse at about 2 p.m., authorities said.

Chief Deputy Dennis McCarthy said the sheriff's department received a tip from the public defend-er's office that the elder Chirstopher Jacobs might be on his way to Wausau to confront the sheriff's department. McCarthy said he then called the Jacobs farm and was told by Jacobs that her husband left a note saying he was on his way to Wausau and that she believed he took guns with him. "She said her husband had been under a lot of stress," McCarthy said, adding Mrs. Jacobs and her son "were concerned." McCarthy said he then called public defender Weldon Nelson, who represented Christopher Jacobs III in the Kunz trial, and Nel- Drunken-driving convictions Outagamie County Circuit Court Unless otherwise noted, the following were sentenced to jail, fined, had their driver's licenses revoked and were ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment for drunken driving: Russell J.
